Built in 1881, The West Montrose
Covered Bridge is known as the ‘The Kissing Bridge.' Early travellers
would sneak a private kiss as they rode their horse and buggy through.
It has stood the test of time as a historical passage overtop of the Grand River in West Montrose–a rural community in Woolwich Township in the Regional Municipality of Waterloo. It is also on the Canadian Register of Historic Places. Today, locals and tourists cross the bridge by wheel, foot, and horse.
