This beautiful turtle took a lot of patience and a keen eye to spot. Initially I had cursed myself for not capturing him/her when I came to a clearing on the path. But I spotted the head in the pond and followed along the shore from a distance in the long grass. Finally it found another sunny spot to sprawl. Amazingly it knew I was in the general area but was not afraid! Maybe it understood my "turtle talk" and the respectful distance I kept and knew I meant no harm. Taken in the spring of 2021 on the Historical Guelph Reformatory Grounds pond.
